France to reign supreme
This is a must-win match for the Netherlands, who trail leaders France by six points but have a game in hand. It is also a revenge mission after their 4-0 defeat by France in the reverse fixture in March.
However, Les Bleus have a 100 per cent record after five qualifying matches in Group B, with 11 goals scored and none conceded. They have also won six of the past seven meetings with the Netherlands.
In contrast, the hosts have been in mixed form since the World Cup, losing to France before defeats by Croatia and Italy at the Nations League finals. They have won their other three matches but scores of 3-0 against Gibraltar and Greece, and 2-1 against Ireland will not strike fear into the French.
The Netherlands are also without key men in Frenkie de Jong, Sven Botman and Memphis Depay, while France have Kylian Mbappe and Ousmane Dembele available, and are our choice to win.

Mbappe the man to watch
France may have lost the World Cup final in Qatar but Kylian Mbappe cemented his status as the natural heir to the mantle for so long shared by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.
He continues to grow in pedigree and stature and has already has seven Ligue 1 goals in seven matches this season as well as scoring four times in France’s past five European qualifiers.
The latter haul includes a brace in the 4-0 win over the Netherlands and he now has 40 goals in 71 games for France. With the Netherlands conceding in three of their previous four matches, we can see him finding the back of the net again at the Johan Cruijff Arena.

Blind has big task on Friday
Daley Blind has been a key player for Girona, who are second in Spain’s La Liga this season, and that has helped him to keep his place in the Netherlands side.
The 33-year-old is a stalwart and experienced campaigner, although his lack of pace could be an issue against France on Friday.
France are one of the fastest counter-attacking sides in the world and the likes of Mbappe and Dembele on either wing could prove difficult for Blind to deal with.
The Dutchman was booked in the previous meeting with France and we expect him to start this match and find himself in the referee’s notebook again.
